薛红教授, 1983年毕业于上海第二军医大学军医系,1986年获第二军医大学病理生理学硕士,1988年赴加拿大多伦多大学生物化学系担任访问学者,1989年至1992年于多伦多大学医学院医学科学研究所获得博士学位,期间于法国国家科学院酶学研究所担任访问学者,19931994年于英国格拉斯哥大学遗传学系担任博士后研究员,1995年至今于香港科技大学生物化学系及生命科学部先后担任助理教授、副教授、教授及应用基因组中心主任,并兼任国际肿瘤基因组项目地区负责人、国家自然科学基金委医学部及香港健康与医学研究基金评委。2018年起,担任中国药科大学基础医学与临床药学学院兼职教授,及肿瘤基因组中心主任。作为主要负责人已完成多项由香港特区政府大学教育资助委员会及创新科技署所资助的研究课题,参与了973863、十三五重大新药创制专项,以及多个国家自然科学基金委面上和重点项目。并获得国家教育部科学技术奖,及香港裘槎基金会资深研究员等奖项。已发表论文200余篇,其中Scopus数据库收录的134篇被引用11715次,H指数32


主要研究兴趣为人类复杂疾病,包括肿瘤及精神神经疾患的基因组学基础及生物进化规律;并深入探讨以遗传学及表观遗传学证据为基础的早期诊断方法,及以分子靶标为基础的中药天然药的研发。主要研究成果包括(1)在国际上首先发现并功能验证了一个重要的精神分裂症相关基因GABRB2;(2)创建了以转座子为基础的人类基因组序列及结构的扫描技术,并用于肿瘤基因组学研究,从而发现了广泛存在的间隙性杂合子缺失现象,提示以姐妹染色体间基因转换为机制的DNA双链断裂修复,在肿瘤发生发展中的重要作用;(3)率先从中草药中发现了具有中枢神经系统活性的黄酮类化合物,并且进行了深入的药效及药理学研究,特别是针对甲型伽马氨基丁酸受体的结合活性及构效关系进行了较为系统的研究,其中单篇论文引用率超过200次。
